Nancy Linda Rogers

Nancy Linda Rogers, of Tehuacana, passed away in Mexia, Texas on December 4, 2023 at the age of 74. 

Nancy was born July 18, 1949 in Dallas, Texas to Cecil and Annie (Guest) Johnson.  She lived in the Mexia/Tehuacana area most of her life.  On May 25, 1986, she married Walter Rogers in Groesbeck, Texas.  Nancy was blessed with three children, Dennis Michael Fortson, Charles Altus Fortson, and Joyce Annette Rogers.  She had a big loving heart, not only for her children but for all children.  Nancy willingly helped raise numerous children, her home was always open when there was a need.  Family and friends were what mattered most in her life.

Nancy also enjoyed fishing, working in her yard, and raising vegetables; she had a green thumb and could grow anything.  According to her children, she was a great cook.  Nancy was very outgoing, never met a stranger, and always had a big smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Annie Johnson; husband, Walter Rogers; son, Dennis Michael Fortson; brothers, Cecil Thomas Johnson, Charles Alvin Johnson, Roger Dale “Buster” Johnson; sisters, Annie Mae Johnson, Darlene Joe Johnson, Betty Louise Daniel, Dotty June Watson, and Mary Helen Johnson.

Nancy is survived by her son, Charles Altus Fortson; daughter, Joyce Annette Garcia and husband, Joshua; daughter, Brittany Nicole McNutt: numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Rosemary Roberts.
