Obed Dee Bailey, Jr.

Obed Bailey passed away on September 4, 2025 at the age of 84. Obed was born on July 15, 1941 in Prairie Hill, Texas to Obed Dee and Barbara Bailey.

Obed met the love of his life, Linda Uzzel, at a football game and were united in marriage on August 15, 1961 in Waco, Texas. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with two sons, Bill and Bobby Bailey.

Obed worked for the Texas Highway Department as an accountant for 34 years when he retired in 1993. Then he went to work doing what he loved. His favorite time of the year was when everything was green, and it was time to mow. He could fix anything around the house and loved to work on older vehicles.

Obed loved his family dearly. He enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and was waiting for the expected arrival of his first great grandchild.

Obed was preceded in death by his parents, Obed and Barbara Bailey; and sister, Bonnie Price.

Left to cherish the memories are his wife of 64 years, Linda Bailey; sons, Bill and wife, Kim and Bobby and wife, Sherrie all of Mexia. Grandchildren, Tyler and Lauren of Hubbard, Dalton of Mexia, Ashton of Houston, and Alec and Sarah of Mansfield; sister Blenda Wood; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia with funeral services beginning at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Prairie Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Bailey, Alec Bailey, Brian Price, Bubba Carter, Ryan Janek, and John Pevehouse. Honorary pallbearers will be Eston Price, Jerry Bass, and Mike Tucker.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
