Orval Butler

Orval Kenneth Butler, 81, of Wortham, Texas passed away on January 5, 2018. He was surrounded by loved ones and took his last breath holding their hands. Kenneth was born in Wortham, Texas on February 29, 1936. He graduated from Wortham High School and received an Agriculture Degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Kenneth was married to Frances La'Nell Hoot on July 12, 1958; they were married 59 years. Kenneth worked as a rancher all of his life and loved his work. He proudly served the country as a member of the Air National Guard. Kenneth was interested in all things ranching and all things family. He collected ranch related antiques. He was also actively involved in the First Baptist Church, where he was a member his entire life. Kenneth was perhaps best known for his sense of humor which he shared with and passed on to all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kenneth's great grandchildren called him "Baboon" and they were his monkeys. Kenneth is survived by his wife Frances; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Brad and Denise Butler and Kelly Paul and Kerri Anne Butler and a daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Scott Spencer, six grandchildren, Kelli Ann Spencer-Toney, Bradley Kane Butler, Hance Rawlings Spencer, Leah Denise Butler, Brandon Paul Butler and Aidon McMichael Butler; and two great grandsons, Wesson Loraine Toney and Smith Scott Toney and his sister, Orvalene Hauk and other family and friends. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents Jesse Mae Butler and Paul Orval Butler, sister Paula Croften and nephew Billy Hauk. Visitation will be held from 1 -2 p.m., with Celebration of Life Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Wortham, Texas with Rev. Justin Colquette officiating. Burial will follow at Wortham Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Aidon Butler, Brandon Butler, David Barnes, David Acevedo, Alan Savage and Brad McReynolds. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the First Baptist Church, Wortham, Texas.
