Otis Eldon Bozeman

Otis Eldon Bozeman, 79, of Mexia, Texas passed away at home on Monday, August 4, 2025. Otis was born at the family home place outside of Groesbeck, Texas on September 14, 1945 to Allie B McClaran and Otis Tilmon Bozeman. Otis graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1965.

On May 28, 1966 at Prairie Grove Baptist Church, Otis married the love of his life, Janice Robinson, whom he had known since childhood. Otis and Janice spent the majority of their lives in Fairfield, Texas, where they raised their two girls, Stefani and Sherry. Eventually, Otis and Janice retired and moved back to Mexia to be closer to family.

Otis was always a hard-working man and had many jobs through the years including working for Lone Star Gas, Berry Barnett Grocery, as a firefighter for the Mexia Fire Department, TDCJ Field Officer, and as a Mechanic Journeyman for TXU in Fairfield for over 20 years until his retirement. Even after retiring from TXU, Otis could not just sit at home. His post-retirement jobs included working as ranch foreman for FE Hill Ranch, a construction foreman for TNT Construction, owner/operator of Bozeman Feed and Tack, and as a maintenance supervisor and Welding Instructor at Limestone County Detention Center until ultimately retiring for good in 2007 to spend time with his grandchildren.

Otis was one of the most genuine Christian men that you could ever meet. He was both God-fearing and God-loving, always striving to live in a way that honored his faith. He consistently put others before himself, with his family at the very center of his heart.

He made it a priority that his family knew Christ as our personal Savior and led by example every step of the way. He adored his daughters, cherished his grand babies, and had a special bond with his two sons, Ronny and Todd. His granddaughter was his “Angel”, and his grandson was his “Little Man.”

Otis loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends. He wanted all of his nieces and nephews to know just how much he loved them too. He had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help anyone in need.

His legacy is one of faith, love, and selflessness – and we are all better for having known him.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janice, brothers, George Thomas Bozeman and William Alton Bozeman Sr., and sister. Ann Fulton. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Stefani Slaughter and husband Todd of Mexia, Sherry Crawford and husband Ronny of LaRue, sister, Donna Robinson of Mexia, grandchildren, Riley Crawford and Wyatt Crawford of LaRue, several nieces and nephews, and best friend, Jodie Sanders.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Fulton and Jodie Sanders officiating. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Lost Prairie Cemetery.  Bill Bozeman, Clinton Bozeman, Sr., Jim Cotton, Terry Cotton, Trey Bozeman, and Cody Cotton will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ronny Crawford, Todd Slaughter, and Wyatt Crawford.

Otis' family would like to express a special thank you to the Petals Plus Florist & Gifts in Red Oak, TX for the casket spray and floral arrangements.
