Peggy Jeanette (Wright) Moore spent her time on earth loving and serving the Lord and looking forward to the day she would be with Him. All her wishes came true when she entered her Heavenly home on her 91st birthday, May 25, 2026.
Peggy was born on May 25, 1935 in Mexia, Texas to Edgar T. and Belle Zora Matilda (Johnson) Wright, where she remained her entire life. On March 29, 1956, she married her lifelong partner, Thomas Eugene Moore, they were blessed with 60 wonderful years together, prior to his death on March 4, 2016. Peggy worked for the Mexia State Supported Living Center in the Administration office, retiring after 25 years of service.
Peggy loved her family and cherished her time with all of them. She liked to cook for family gatherings almost as much as everyone enjoyed eating it; she was a very good cook. Whenever the sisters could find time to get together for a visit, there was always good food and plenty of stories to tell; a fun time had by all.
Peggy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mexia where she spent years of service as a WMU director. She loved the Lord and was a strong witness until the end. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, and simply sitting on the back porch drinking coffee while admiring her flower beds and pecan trees.
She was preceded by her parents, Edgar and Belle Wright; husband, Thomas E. Moore; and all her siblings, Delilah Belle Williams, Andrew Wright, Millard Wright, Lillie C. Shelton, Johnnie Wright, Harmon Wright, E. T. Wright, Jr. Maurice Wright, and Elizabeth Ann Black.
Peggy is survived by her son, Darrell Wayne Moore and wife, Jane of Teague; daughter, Ruby Jeanette Howell and husband, Terry of Mexia; grandchildren, April Moore Welch and husband, Bubba, Stephen Howell, Stephanie Howell Webb and husband, Keith, Jason Howell and wife, Trish, Cody Moore and wife, Robyn, and Christina Smiley and husband, Andy; numerous great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2026 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Reverend Bruce Rudd and Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Rick Webb, Brady Welch, Noah Webb, Jordan Howell, Brant Moore, Bryce Moore, and Blake Hudson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Landyn Webb, Drew Smiley, Nicholas Webb, and Luke Howell.
