Ricky Wayne Teer passed away on June 2, 2026, in Mexia following a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. Although he will be deeply missed, his family is comforted knowing he is now with God and free of pain forever. Ricky was born on August 15, 1957, in Mexia, Texas, to Jodie and Thelma Lavette (McElroy) Teer. He graduated from Sam Houston High School in Arlington, Texas. He worked in the print shop for the National Cash Register Company for many years.
Ricky cherished his family more than words can say. Like most everyone, he loved and enjoyed his time with his children, but the fun and most memorable times began as the grandkids and great-grandkids came along. There was no doubt; Ricky always knew the glue that kept this happy family together was his devoted and loving wife, Carla. Ricky was known to be a jokester, and there was always a prank up his sleeve. He was a happy-go-lucky kind of guy who enjoyed life to the fullest. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling whenever possible, and he had a big passion for cooking.
In his final days, he reflected on the many blessings God had given him throughout his life. In a message to his beloved wife, Carla, he wrote:"God has given me many miracles, beginning with the gift of His only Son for sinners like me. I repent of my sins so that my soul may be saved. The miracles He gave me are Jenny Teer, Crystal Teer, and Michael Shane Teer; Royce Slater, Randy Slater, and Traci Slater; and all my grandchildren. My greatest miracle of all has been my angel, Carla K. Teer, with whom I shared 25 beautiful years."These words reflect the deep faith, gratitude, and love for family that defined his life and remained in his heart until the very end.To the family, friends, and all who knew him, he has left a Legacy that will live on.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jodie and Lavette Teer, and siblings, Debbie English and James Teer.Ricky is survived by his loving wife, Carla Teer; children, Jenny Clare and husband, J. D., Crystal Teer, Shane Teer and wife, Nicole, Royce Slater III, Randy Slater and wife, Sabrina, and Traci Sellers and husband, Nubon; grandchildren, Aiden, Averie, Ashton, Christopher, Destiny, Kaden, Heaven, Harley, Georgia, Aubrey, Hannah, Kimber, Teagan, Jaiden, Amari, Kian, and Christian; a number of great-grandkids; sister, Laura Leonard and husband, Frank; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
