On May 18, 2026, Robert “Warren” Matthews, a man with a boundless love for life and the people in it, was welcomed into his eternal heavenly home by his Lord and Savior.
Born on May 17, 1968, in Tokyo, Japan, to Thomas Eugene and Helen (Schuster) Matthews, Warren’s early years set the stage for a life full of adventure, connection, and purpose.
He grew up in Point Enterprise, graduated from Mexia High School, and went on to earn his master’s degree. Driven by a deep sense of duty, Warren proudly served his country for four years in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Power Mechanic on the USS California.
Warren lived every day to the absolute fullest. He possessed an outgoing personality, a wonderful sense of humor, and a genuine interest in everyone he crossed paths with. To Warren, there were no strangers—only friends he hadn't met yet. He was consistently the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and brought light into the lives of people from all walks of life.
A true outdoorsman, Warren loved hunting, turning wrenches on old tractors, and riding motorcycles. He felt a profound, peaceful connection to God while surrounded by nature, especially in the mountains of Colorado or in the quiet solitude of a deer stand. He also had a great appreciation for all types of music and loved singing along to his favorite tunes—even if his enthusiastic singing brought more smiles and chuckles to his listeners than musical harmony!
Years ago, Warren and his friends formed a motorcycle club. Though the club itself has passed into memory, the brotherhood they built remained unbreakable. In a beautiful tribute to his lifelong love of riding and camaraderie, these close friends will ride alongside Warren on his journey to his final resting place here on earth.
Above all, Warren was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband, son, and brother, and he embraced his role as a bonus father and grandfather figure with an open heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Matthews, and other beloved family members.
His warm and generous spirit lives on through his loving wife, Alesha; his mother, Helen Matthews; his brother, Mike Matthews and wife, Mary; and his sisters, Rebecca Huff and husband, Steven, and Carol Dallas. He is also survived by the children he loved and treated as his very own: Colton Grabs and wife, Callie; Makayla Wallace and husband, Tanner; and Karla Harrison and husband, Nick. He shared a particularly special bond with his grandson, Stetson Wallace, who affectionately knew him as “Grumpy”. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Friends and loved ones are invited to gather for a visitation with the family on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate Warren's life will be held the following morning at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, also at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home, with Chaplain James Foster officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Minchew, Sam Ray, Michael Matthews, Dylan Matthews, Garrett Crane, Hunter Dallas. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Matthews, Steven Huff, and Colton Grabs. Following the service, Warren will be lovingly escorted by his motorcycle brothers to his final resting place at Point Enterprise Cemetery.
