Ronald Dean Wolcott was born in North Platte, NE on October 25, 1947 and passed from this life May 1, 2014 at his home in Navasota, TX after a lengthy illness. Ron joined the US Army in 1967 and retired SFC of 5th Special Forces in 1989; making a career out of proudly serving his country for 22 years. While in the Army, he received many honors such as: The Army Service Ribbon, The National Service Defense Medal, Army Service Commendation Medal Oak Leaf Cluster, Overseas Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral II. Also Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge with Palm, Army Good Conduct Medal 6th Award, Driver & Mechanic Badge MT and the Expert Rifle Badge. After his retirement from the Military, he was a truck driver by trade having received his million mile service award while employed with J.B. Hunt trucking company. Ron was quite a unique fella; he was quite an enthusiast of biking on his Harley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Ernest & Geraldine (Barnhill) Wolcott; grandparents, Floyd & Grace Wolcott; and an infant daughter. Ronald is survived by his wife, Amy Wolcott of Navasota, TX; children, Ronald and Shawn Marie Wolcott of Marietta, GA, Michael Wolcott of Dallas, Robert, Christopher and Destiny Wolcott all of Navasota, TX; stepson, Westley Harper and wife, Michelle of Navasota, TX; nine grandchildren; sisters, Rosetta and James Barnhill of North Platte, NE, and Grace Blatnick of North Platte, NE; and numerous nephews, nieces, great nieces & nephews all of NE. It was Ron's request to be cremated and rest in peace at the Houston National Cemetery with full Military Honors, this service will take place at 2:15pm on Friday, May 30, 2014.
