Rosaleen Imelda Smith

Rosaleen McGhee Smith peacefully passed away on February 7th, 2024 in Mexia,Texas. She was 81 years old. She is survived by her two daughters, Kristen Fraser (David Fraser), and Stassa Hall; her grandchildren Kyle Schrader, Madison Fraser, McKenzie Fraser, and Chase Fraser.

As we reflect upon her life, we know she will be remembered by her friends and family as a caring and generous person who loved with her whole heart. She was generous with her time, love, and  talents. We also realize the weight of the legacy she leaves behind. It is a legacy of strength, perseverance, and optimism. Her rheumatoid arthritis crippled her body, but not her spirit.

She has taught us that humor heals, to be empathetic, and that there is no expiration date on your dreams. Her sense of humor will be heard as we recall the echo of her laughter or visualize the outline of her smile. She was a wonderful example of empathy, especially when showing compassion for others who were struggling. She was born with a caregiver's heart and finally realized her dream of becoming a registered nurse at the age of 54.

Words can't capture all that she meant to her family and friends. She has been our protector, cheerleader, conscience, advocate, and confidant. Goodbye to our beloved yellow rose of Scotland. You will forever bloom in our hearts.

At Rosaleen's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service and she will be cremated and returned to Scotland. Instead, we ask that you volunteer your time and talents in order to honor her memory and spirit.
