Roxanna Huff

With great sadness this post commemorates the passing of Roxanna Rae Fox-Huff. She is my loving and faithful wife of 42 years.

She was diagnosed with cancer in 2013. She has fought this disease with every fiber of her being.

Not because she clung to life and its enjoyments but because she had a burning passion for her children and her family.

She loved cooking, cleaning and caring for her family.

She fought every battle on the spiritual battleground through prayer and faith with a determination and steadfastness that is amazing.

Giving birth to 9 children she believed them to be a gift from God and cherished and fought for each one. When the youngest child was still in her teens Roxanna said 'I have my health and a little money, with prayer, faith and God's help I will adopt children'. She went on to adopt 9 children from all over the world, four from Africa (siblings), four from China and one from Japan.

She did not have an empty nest, her mission was to give love and the knowledge of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was also focused on giving these children the most coveted membership on the planet, United States citizenship. She worked tirelessly filling out paperwork, submitting applications, being investigated (each time) paying fees and going to appointments. But her most proud triumph came when she was able to change the status of these children from orphan to Son or Daughter.

She is founder and president of GodWorks Ministries, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity for the purpose of raising money for adoptions and orphans. She has been supporting a ministry in India through grants and gifts totaling over $75,000.00 in 2019 alone. She currently sponsors 6 children through Compassion international and World Vision. Some children she has sponsored from birth up to adulthood.

Roxanna fought tirelessly and was opposed on many sides yet she always accomplished her goals. An author of her own story, 'Grace to Survive' tells some of her battles and courageous victories. She was shy about her private life and wrote this book under the pen name 'Toni Rei Fox'.

She ran the race, she fought the good fight and she WON ! She did not lose her battle with cancer, she WON it. She always had a kind word for a stranger, for the nurse who was sticking her with needles for the 13,000th time, for the receptionist who challenged her insurance, for the other patients who needed encouragement or the lab technician asking her to drink an awful concoction .

Surgeries, chemotherapy(multiple times) and radiation (several times), through all of it she was kind and loving to those around her. She was always looking to the Lord for her strength, always believing God was in charge, of both the things she loved and the things that were unpleasant. When someone marveled at her lack of bitterness about her situation she would always say 'some people have it much worse'.

Yes, she won her battle with cancer. She did not become bitter, she did not strike out at those around her, she did not shake her fist at God. Like Job, she endured her situations and gave God glory for all the good in her life. She was not defeated. Her love for her Lord and for her family is a legacy and a testimony that cannot be taken away. She is more than a conqueror and she finished her race with grace and love.

She is victorious in Christ Jesus. Please consider a donation to GodWorks Ministries

Her constant encouragement to those around her was to make the best of the day you have and do not spend one minute complaining, blaming or pouting. This resolve came from an abiding faith that God was in charge and no matter what it looked like his plan was perfect and good.
