Ruby Mae Masters passed away on July 7, 2026 in Mexia, Texas at the age of 88. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2026 in the Mexia Cemetery with Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating.
Ruby was born on February 21, 1938 in Teague, Texas to James P. and Lorandus (French) Lively. She lived in Mexia most of life and graduated from Mexia High School, Class of 1956. On June 16, 1956, she married Louie L. Masters and they were blessed with 61 wonderful years together, prior to his death in 2017. Ruby retired from the First National Bank (now Incommons) after 23 years of service.
Ruby’s number one priority in life was taking care of her husband and four sons. She and Louie were always very active in their children’s lives; they spent numerous hours going to sporting events and being involved in anything else they participated in. One of her proudest moments was the day her grandson, Matthew Cole was born; nothing could have made her happier.
Whenever time allowed, Ruby enjoyed some quiet time reading and watching Perry Mason. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Mexia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lorandus Lively; husband, Louie L. Masters; and sister, Bessie Wadle.
Ruby is survived by her sons, Donnie L. Masters of Santa Fe, NM, Ronnie D. Masters of Mexia, Jonnie G. Masters of Mexia; and Lonnie L. “Pete” Masters of Mexia; grandson, Matthew Cole Masters and wife, Audrey of Bryan; siblings, Opal Partch of Austin, Jessie Yarbrough of Temple, and James R. Lively of Temple; and other relatives.
