Starlene Yelverton, of Tehuacana, passed away May 28, 2019 in Groesbeck at the age of 72. A service to celebrate Starlene's life will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Tehuacana with Rev. Chris Rowe and Rev. Brad Brittain officiating.
Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Starlene was born October 30, 1946 in Dallas to Bill and Betty Ragan Day. She grew up in Mexia and graduated from Mexia High School, Class of 1966. She worked for the Mexia ISD as a Librarian Aid for many years.
Starlene married her high school sweetheart, Charles Dana Yelverton, on July 9, 1966 and they were blessed with two children, Tammy and Lloyd "Sonny". Her family was the light of her life, her pride and joy. Starlene thought her love for her children was strong, but when the grandchildren came along, her love just grew stronger. She always had a special place in her heart for all children. She also enjoyed sewing, working in the yard and cooking, the best cook ever according to her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Day; mother, Betty Porter; and husband, Charles Dana Yelverton.
Starlene is survived by her loving children, Tammy Yelverton Platt and husband Tommy and Lloyd Eugene "Sonny" Yelverton; grandchildren, Rusty Platt and wife, Amanda, Clynt Cade Platt and fiancé, Maecy and Clay Dawson Platt, great grandchildren, Gentry and Charlie Platt: brother, Bill Day; sisters, Danette Masters and Theresa Grabs and husband, Wayne; mother-in-law, Margadelle Yelverton; brother-in-law, Kent Yelverton, Sister-in-law Sharon Garber and husband, Alden and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research.
