Susan Beene Hadley, 60, passed away on June 8, 2026, after a courageous and determined battle with ALS. She was surrounded by the love of the family she cherished so deeply.
Susan was born on July 7, 1965, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Jack and Gayle Beene. She grew up in Diboll, Texas, where she graduated from Diboll High School in 1983. She went on to attend Texas A&M University, earning a degree in Accounting in 1987. While at Texas A&M, Susan was a proud member of the Tri Delta Sorority, where she formed lifelong friendships and embraced the Aggie spirit she carried throughout her life. She earned her CPA certification in 1989.
In 1990, Susan married the love of her life, John Hadley, in Diboll, Texas. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and unwavering support for one another.
Susan enjoyed an accomplished 32-year career with RadioShack. Through periods of tremendous change, including two corporate bankruptcies, she remained a steady and respected leader whose intelligence, perseverance, and integrity earned the admiration of colleagues throughout the company. Her professional achievements reflected the same determination and work ethic that defined every aspect of her life.
While Susan was proud of her career, her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an adoring Grammy. She never missed an opportunity to support her sons, Clay and Cole, whether from the stands at baseball games, football fields, or any event that mattered to them. Her encouragement was constant, her pride immeasurable, and her love unconditional.
Nothing brought Susan more happiness than spending time with her grandchildren. She treasured every moment with Charlotte, 6, Cooper, 4, and newborn Lily. Becoming a Grammy was one of life's greatest blessings, and she embraced that role with boundless love and enthusiasm.
Susan found beauty in the simple things: sunsets over the lake, days at the beach, photography, RV adventures, and gathering with family and friends. She had a gift for making memories and creating moments that brought people together. Her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
On January 2, 2024, Susan was diagnosed with ALS. Although the disease gradually impacted her ability to perform everyday tasks, she met every challenge with remarkable resilience, grace, and determination. She refused to let ALS define her life, continuing to make the most of every day and every moment with those she loved.
Susan is survived by her husband, John Hadley; her parents, Jack and Gayle Beene; her sons, Clay Hadley and wife Brooke, and Cole Hadley and wife Kristina; her beloved grandchildren, Charlotte, Cooper, and Lily; her brother, Stephen Beene and wife Carla; her nephew, Braden Beene; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Susan's legacy is one of strength, devotion, perseverance, and love. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her steadfast support of her family, her professional accomplishments, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and friendship.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ALS Association to support research and the search for a cure for this devastating disease.
Though she will be deeply missed, Susan's love, example, and spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
