Thomas Guest

June 11, 1946 — March 15, 2021

Thomas Guest

Thomas Louis Guest went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 15, 2021 at age 74.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Nancy Guest; and a sister, Barbara Lloyd.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Guest; daughter, Amy C. Kramer and her husband, Christopher K. Kramer and grandchildren, Christopher K. “CJ” Kramer, Jr. and Ashley C. Kramer, all of Manassas, Virginia; sisters Billie York of Mexia, Norma Bell of Axtell and Betsy Underwood of Hico; and numerous other nieces,  nephews, relatives, and friends.

Mr. Guest was born June 11, 1946 in Mexia, the younger brother to four sisters.  He graduated from Mexia High School in 1964, after which he attended Navarro College.  During this time he met Amy’s Mother, Paula Richardson.  They were married in Wortham, and soon after, he joined the Air Force ROTC program at Texas A&M University in College Station, where they lived in a tiny on-campus apartment.  Upon graduation, he became an officer in the Air Force and was stationed in Texas, Florida, Panama, Maine and Virginia.  After 25 years of serving his country, he retired as a Major from the Air Force and started a second career in human resources for L3 Communications in Waco, where he helped many people find employment. During this time he met and married his second wife, Polly Cummings.  After working for L3 Communications for over 20 years, he retired for a second time.  In 2016, he married his current wife, Anne Guest.

Mr. Guest purchased land along Highway 84 in Axtell many years ago, where he enjoyed his days of farming, ranching, and gardening.  He had quite a green thumb, and was always planting, mowing, grafting and gardening.  He enjoyed meeting with his friends as part of the “OFS” (the “Old Farts Society”) where they discussed old times and current events.  He consistently put the needs of others (including the furry kind) before himself.  He was always rescuing dogs and cats whenever he could.  He had such a tender heart for animals.  He will be sorely missed by friends and family.

Graveside services, with Military Honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 19, 2021 in the Mexia Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
