Timmie Sterling, of Mexia, entered his eternal home with his Lord and Savior on March 21, 2026 from Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, TX surrounded by family and friends. He was 68 years old.
Timmie was born on January 1, 1958 in Mexia, Texas to John Earl and Maxine (Blackmon) Sterling along with his twin brother, Jimmie. He graduated from Mexia High School, Class of 1976. On February 6, 1976, Timmie married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca Wilder; they just celebrated 50 glorious years together. After a long career in the Quality Control Department with General Dynamics, he retired in July 2025.
Timmie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and special friend to many. His love for the Lord and his family was exemplified by the way he lived his life. There was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his family and friends, of course, the grandchildren were at the top of that list! Timmie was always supportive of any, and all activities in which his children and grandchildren participated. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church.
Timmie enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt, and play golf. He was a “heck” of a softball player in his day and an avid Texas Longhorn fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maxine Sterling; kids, Jennifer, Gary, and Christopher Sterling, sister, Marlane Sterling, and brother, Earl “Binky” Sterling.
Timmie is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Sterling; son, Eric Sterling and wife, Kristie of Wortham; daughter, Amy Rodriguez and husband, Steven of Mexia; grandkids, Madison, Jaley, and Emma Rodriguez all of Mexia, Hailey Sterling of Wortham, and Anaiya Wright of Mexia: brothers, Jimmie Sterling and wife, Shawna of Mexia and Bobby Sterling and wife, Christine of Waco; sister, Susan Carpenter and husband, Mike of Mexia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Blackmon officiating. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery.
