Virginia Vinson

Virginia "Ann" Vinson passed away October 5, 2018, at the LTC Nursing Rehab facility in Groesbeck. Ann was born May 21, 1939 in Woodson, Texas, the youngest of eight children born to Aaron Springs Turner and Ressie Mathiews Turner. She was often referred to as Annie by her brothers and sisters.

Ann married Dan C. "Butch" Vinson on March 11, 1959 in Littlefield, Texas. They spent more than 20 years in Muleshoe, Texas before moving to Hesperia, California. Texas, coupled with the birth of two granddaughters, called them back and they have lived in this area ever since. For the past 24 years Prairie Hill has been their home.

Ann loved being around people, and never met a stranger. She had the gift of gab and was sure to make everyone feel welcomed and special. She served as the Director of the Limestone County Senior Services Center for over 13 years and worked part time even after her retirement from the position. Ann spent countless hours visiting fellow seniors, and always shared her favorite memories of delivering meals to those unable to make their way to the Senior Center for a meal.

Ann thrived on family and was most at home when conversation was in the air. Silence was her nemesis, and seldom did she allow more than a second or two pass before she started a new conversation. Ann also enjoyed quilting and cooking. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church.

Ann had four children, seven grand-children, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father Ira Robinson; son, William Ira Vinson; brothers, Willard Turner and Elton "Buck" Turner; sisters, Ruby Sanders, Betty Monet, and Dorothy Washington.

Left to carry on many good memories are her loving husband Butch, of 59 and half years, as well as her children; Dennis and sweetheart Cindy of Fort Morgan, Colorado, Amber Dawn of Merino, Colorado, and Bill and wife Diane of Pearland, Texas. Grandchildren, Jennifer, Megan, Seaver, Auston, Nick, Emily, and Christopher. Great grandchildren; Michael, JJ, Jasmine, Julissa, and Sara.

A memorial celebration of Ann's life will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 10:30am at the Prairie Hill Baptist Church in Prairie Hill, Texas with Pastor Rick Cundieff officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Limestone County Senior Service Center 109 N. Sherman Street Mexia, TX 76667; Prairie Hill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 40, Prairie Hill, TX 76678; Groesbeck LTC Nursing and Rehab, 607 Parkside Dr., Groesbeck, TX 76642.
