Wilton Dawson Robinson, 85, passed away October 25, 2017 in Burleson, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 AM. Wilton was born June 7, 1932 in Madisonville, Texas to L. D. and Ruby Robinson. He received his degree from Sam Houston University, where he met and married his loving wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Maddox Robinson. They moved to Mexia where he taught science at Mexia High School and was a member of the Army Reserve. During this time, the Lord called him into ministry under the direction of Dr. Edwin J. Mays of the First Baptist Church, Mexia, Texas. Wilton served as Minister of Music and/or Minister of Education in various churches for the next 49 years; he retired from the ministry while in Harlingen, Texas. During his ministry, Wilton achieved notoriety as Who's Who of the Baptist Men of Texas. He also led many revivals across Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. Wilton loved people. His ministry touched hundreds. Throughout his life, his passion was to reach the lost and love his family. This love was shared through his whole life and passed on to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wilton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 61 years, Liz Robinson; brother, Dean Robinson; and sister-in-law, Beverly Robinson. He is survived by his children, Rick Robinson and wife, Linda of Covington, Beverly Robinson Toerner and husband, Mark of Grove, OK and Sharon Robinson; grandchildren, Philip DuBose, Jr. and wife, Amanda of Watertown, NY, Brandi Robinson Rush and husband, Shaun of Burleson, Elisa DuBose Randell and husband, Chris of Burleson, Suzanne Robinson of Fort Worth, Dea Edney and husband, Noah of Dumfries, VA and Clint Surginer and wife, Diana of La Jolla, CA; great-grandchildren, Riley Forman, Annabelle Rush, Maggie Rush, Grace Rush, Cesar DuBose, Andrea DuBose and Philip DuBose, III; sister, Dianna Robinson Elder and husband Jay of Cypress. Pallbearers will be Clint Surginer, Christopher Randell, David Mays, Mark Toerner, Rick Robinson and Shaun Rush.
