Chester Augustus Seelinger, of Mexia, passed away January 1, 2021 in College Station, Texas at the age of 80.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Gray officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery.  Scott Condon, Clinton Condon, Anthony Farris, Tommy Vaughan, Brett Kennedy and Kevin Vest will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Men of Calvary Baptist Church and Bubba Carter.

Visitation with the family will be 4-6 p.m., Sunday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Chester was born November 21, 1940 in Mexia, Texas to Cornelius Joseph and Leona Matysiak Seelinger.  He has been a lifelong resident of Mexia.  He graduated from Mexia High School, Class of 1959 and then attended Navarro College for a short time.  He began his working career with A&P Grocery and then he joined the Army and later, served in the National Guard while resuming a fulltime job with A&P.  He went on to work for Piggly Wiggly and then for himself before opening Mexia Tire & Service Center with a business partner.  Chester drove a truck for Flatt Stationers and then worked as the Canteen Manager at the Mexia State School.  In 1996, Chester went to work for his present employer, Bi-Stone Building Supply.  He was a hard worker and, for whomever he was working, he gave his all.

Chester was a worker, but he always had time to spend with his family, in many instances, they were likely all working together.  He loved all his family and spending time with them, however, like most grandfather’s, he especially enjoyed his grandkids; they were the light of his life.  He also enjoyed taking care of his farm and white Ford pickup trucks, they were always spotless.

Chester loved serving his Lord and Savior as a member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Committee.  He also served on the Point Enterprise Water Supply Board.  Chester was always friendly, full of energy and willing to help anyone that he could.  He was known by many, especially, through his job, he cared about his customers and he knew, and exemplified, the meaning of “Good Customer Service”.   He will truly be missed by his co-workers, many friends and customers.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his parents, Cornelius and Leona Seelinger; brothers, Leo Seelinger and Carlton Hatcher; and sister-in-law, Nelda Hatcher.

Chester is survived by his wife, Judy Seelinger of Mexia; daughter, Kasi Seelinger of Mexia; son, Chet and wife, Jenny of Groesbeck; grandchildren, Chance Watson, Hannah and Ryan Seelinger; and numerous friends.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 519 S. McKinney, Mexia, TX. 76667.
