Doris was born February 8, 1937 in Mexia, Texas to John C. and Ruth Harrison Everett.  She has been a resident of Mexia her entire life and was a graduate of Mexia High School.  Doris worked as a Vocational Therapist at the Mexia State School for many years, prior to retiring.  However, after retiring, she decided to go to work for Mexia ISD as a substitute teacher.

Doris was a very spiritual lady with a loving and caring heart.  She was strong in her faith and it was evident in the way she lived her life.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; she raised her children in Christian home and was always open to helping others.  Doris was an active, lifetime member of the Calvary Baptist Church.  She taught Sunday school for many years and eagerly participated in many other events at the church.  She, also, enjoyed going to the nursing homes and holding Bible study classes with the residents.

Doris was a fan of country living.  She enjoyed working in both vegetable, and flower gardens, quilting, all types of craftwork, and fishing with others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Everett; husbands, Kenneth Allie Chaney, Bernice Story, and Franklin D. Pope; infant daughter, Deborah Chaney; two grandchildren, Suzanne Chaney and Jeffrey Chaney, Jr.; and siblings, Billie Jo Reed, Charles Everett, Dorothy Sunday, John Everett, and Jerry Everett.

Doris is survived by five sons, Michael Chaney and wife, Pam of Mexia, Gregory Mark Chaney and wife, Laurie of Mexia, Jeffrey Louis Chaney and wife, Brenda of Wortham, Daniel Bernice Story of Beaumont, and Douglas Herron and wife, Heather of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Stephen Chaney, Meredith Davison, Nathan Craig Chaney, Matthew Colton Chaney, Justin Lee Chaney, Jacob Story, and Christian Story; great grandchildren, Ally, Zayden, and Chloe Davison, Thomas, Marley, Skylar, Lane, Charlotte, Mattie, Hayden, Leeah, and Natalie Chaney; and a number of nieces and nephews.
