James "Jimmy" Richards

James Ray Richards, of Mexia, passed away June 16, 2021 at the age of 69.  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the Mexia Family Church with Pastor Jacob Kyle officiating.

James was born August 27, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas.

James, better known amongst family and friends as Jimmy, was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.  He enjoyed fishing, caring for his birds, tinkering in the yard amongst his many projects, and watching his favorite movies and shows.  Jimmy also had a passion for good food and would try anything once!  He had a huge, sweet tooth and loved a good desert!  Jimmy’s biggest passion in life though was his family. He loved family gatherings and holidays and always had a joke or something clever up his sleeve to keep everyone laughing.  Jimmy was well-known amongst the community as a kind, gentle, hardworking, and compassionate man.  He never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone about anything.  His compassionate nature has touched the hearts of many, and he will be greatly missed by many.

James is survived by his soulmate, Katie; parents, William and Sandy of Groesbeck; three sons, James, Jr. and wife, Robin of Arkansas, Chris and wife, Cheryl of Arkansas, and Shane and wife, Ashley of Arkansas; daughter, Brandy and husband, Scott of Arkansas; 11 grandkids; three great grandkids; brothers, William, Jr. of North Carolina, Robert of Arkansas, and Michael of Houston; and sisters, Beverly Bruce of Georgetown, Texas and Michell of Groesbeck.

James was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene McKinney.
