Jayne Grace Smith passed away September 20, 2020, in Mexia, at the age of 69. Visitation with the family will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Jayne was born November 13, 1950 in Houston, Texas to William Floyd and Pauline Kwasnica Slaughter. She was a retired nurse (LVN), although she worked for several facilities, the majority of her career was spent with Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck. In addition to a Degree in Nursing, and a passion for music, Jayne also earned a Degree in Music from Navarro College.
Jayne’s love for God and her family was evident. Her Christian dedication led her to become an Ordained Minister. She always looked forward to spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Jayne an avid rock collector, enjoyed singing karaoke, sewing, and working in her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents. W. L. and Pauline Slaughter.
Jayne is survived by her husband, David L. Shinault; sons, Chris Baker and wife, Linda, Matthew Baker, Michael Baker and Jeffrey Baker and wife, Wendy; a number of grandchildren; sister, Joyce Slaughter; and brothers, Robert Slaughter and William F. Slaughter, III.
