Sandra Trotter

It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra Arlene Trotter announces that she, peacefully, passed away on June 3, 2020, in Houston, Texas, following a brief illness.

Sandy, as she was known by her friends, was born on December 3, 1940 in Mexia, Texas to Richard and Ruth (Johnson) Romain.  She grew up in Mexia surrounded by her family and many friends.  Sandy attended Mexia High School where she met the love of her life and her husband of 54 years, Ken Trotter.  She graduated from Mexia High School in May of 1959.  She married Ken at the First Methodist Church of Tehuacana on July 17, 1959.  She then moved to Huntsville, Texas with Ken as he attended Sam Houston State Teachers College.  In 1962, she gave birth to her first daughter, Kimberly Anne.  In January 1963, after Ken had graduated, the family began their travels around the world as Ken served his country in the United States Army.

In 1964, their second daughter, Camille Arlene, was born.  In 1972, Sandy and Ken’s third daughter, Jennifer Rebecca was born.

After 20 years in the Army, Ken honorably retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.  Ken and Sandy then moved to Dallas, Texas as he embarked on a second career by working at Texas Instruments and Raytheon Company.  Ken retired once more, in 2004, and he and Sandy moved to Tomball, Texas to be near their family.  Sandy’s fondest memories were of the times she spent with her husband, her daughters, her sons-in-law, and her grandchildren.  She was happiest traveling with them, enjoying holidays and vacations with them, and caring for all of them.  She was a kind, generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister.  Her outgoing and personable attitude will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ruth Romain; and her beloved husband, Ken, in 2013.  She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly and son-in-law, Andrew Selzman; her daughter, Camille and son-in-law, Robert Zachmeier; her daughter, Jennifer Trotter and son-in-law, Jason Hafner; her five grandchildren, Amanda Goldie O’Brien Selzman, Jonathan Edward Selzman, Matthew Andrew Selzman, George Edward Hafner, and Henry Jacob Hafner; and her sister Carol Barranco.

A small graveside service will be held in the Tehuacana Cemetery on Monday, June 8, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Tehuacana Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 123, Tehuacana, Texas 76686.
