Velva Griffith

Velva Jo Griffith, of Mexia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 17, 2021 at the age of 75.  Graveside services, to honor and give thanks to God for her life and life eternal, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 22, 2021 at the Union Cemetery in Freestone County.

Velva Jo was born November 27, 1945 in Teague, Texas to Frank Ross and Ruby Kate (Harrington) Moree.  She graduated from Arlington High School and spent most of her working life as a seamstress.  Velva Jo was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  She will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ruby Moree; and seven siblings, Jean Laird, Verna Lou "Bonnie" Cornett, Patricia "Pat" Christian, Phyliss Denny, Gary Christian, Frank Ross Moree Jr., and Wayne Christian.

Velva Jo is survived by her husband of 31 years, Charles Griffith; daughter, Sharon Shiell and husband, Brian of Garland; granddaughters, Abby Moriah Shiell and Madeline Renee Shiell Cheo; sister, Neva Felz of Mexia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
